This historic landmark has been lovingly recreated by the Lincoln Logs design team to celebrate its rich heritage and enduring appeal.
The Horseshoe Hill Station was sculpted by Lincoln Logs Senior Art Director, Carla J. Hunt, after she visited it on a company field trip. “It’s such a wonderful place to bring your family for a break,” said Hunt. “That’s why I wanted to make it part of the Lincoln Logs story. Everyone should have a special place where they can stop and rest.”

Why are Lincoln Logs called “Lincoln Logs”?
Lincoln Logs were created in 1924. It was the time when parents discovered that there are lots of toys for kids to play with. The toy is named after President Abraham Lincoln’s childhood cabin.
The name of the toy was changed to Lincoln Logs in 1930. It’s not because the name wasn’t catchy enough, but because it would be hard for kids to understand and say “Log Cabin Toys” and during the Great Depression people were looking for something simple and easy to remember.
Do Lincoln Logs and Frontier Logs work together
Yes, they’re made by the same company and essentially the same thing. Frontier logs used to be called “Lincoln Logs for Boys.”
The toy’s original name when it was invented in 1922 was Lincoln logs—named after President Abraham Lincoln, who had been assassinated six years earlier. In 1936 when George Washington Carver patented a new system of making toys from pine rosin (his discovery), he released these as frontier logs; in 1959, when Monopoly licensed them for sale in their game kits, they began calling them frontier logs because “kids might confuse this with our trademarked product,” according to children’s book author and historian Leonard Marcus.

Lincoln Logs are a popular American children’s toy made out of tiny square-notched logs used to construct little forts and homes. John Lloyd Wright, the second son of well-known architect Frank Lloyd Wright, devised them in 1916. In 1999, Lincoln Logs were inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame. K’NEX is the manufacturer of Lincoln Logs now. In late 2017, following a bankruptcy filing, K’NEX was acquired by Basic Fun of Florida. Basic Fun owns the intellectual property rights to Lincoln Logs produced by Pride Manufacturing in Burnham, Maine.
